Vote For Tay, It Will Pay

I feel like the world would be a much better place if Monday was always a free day. If I were in control I'd make sure this became a permanent thing. In fact, if memory serves I made this very promise when I ran for student council president at Northern Hills Elementary in 1996. As well as Pizza Hut for lunch and free vending machines. I hope my grade school still regrets their decision of electing the other girl. "Vote For Tay, It Will Pay" was just such a catchy campaign slogan.

Per the usual, here's a few photos recapping the weekend.

Since Harlow was back to 100% (thank God!) we were able to spend Friday afternoon at his favorite park. Does anyone else's dog love jungle gyms? Let me rephrase that, is anyone else weird enough to get jollies off of watching their dog play on jungle gyms?

You wanna see something funny? Watch a dog walk across a wiggly jungle gym bridge.

Shortly after the park, the sunny Friday afternoon turned into a rainy Friday evening. Chris and I waited out the storm before walking to a little restaurant in our neighborhood called Rickshaw Republic we've been meaning to try for awhile.

Chris wanted to go there because they serve "Asian street food." I wanted to go because it's BYOB. Why every restaurant in America doesn't have a BYOB option is beyond me. It's truly one of my favorite things about Chicago. We paid $9.99 for that fancy bottle of Robert Mondavi Chardonnay at Walgreens. In a normal restaurant you would probably pay $8 at least for just a glass.

For apps we had the peanut glazed chicken wings and spicy empanadas, both were delicious. Although I will admit the chicken wings were a bit intense. I felt like I was eating a sticky bun.

Following dinner we went out to all sorts of cool bars and did all sorts of crazy stuff that normal people our age do. Let's stick with that story, okay? Sounds a lot better than saying we immediately went home and Chris watched the K State football team lose while I passed out on the couch before 10:00 p.m....

I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed on Saturday morning ready to officially start Husker season. The air was crisp, football was on TV by 9:00 a.m. and there was just a certain new season energy in the air. Kimberly commented on my post last week saying how having football on TV while making chili or pumpkin pies is basically the equivalent of Christmas music for the fall, and I couldn't agree more.

I started the morning with a heart healthy breakfast from Dunkin Donuts.

Har started the morning with a heart healthy jar of peanut butter.

And then we got in our Husker gear and were off to Kirkwoods to claim a table for the next seven hours.

The game wasn't very pretty. In fact it was downright ugly, we still managed to win though of course, just not by the amount we should have. But I've got this theory, see every year we usually win the first game by quite a lot, and then we just continue to get worse every game thereafter. So my thought is that maybe we got this shitty game out of the way so now we might actually have a consistent season? It's doubtful, but a girl can hope.

And Sunday afternoon was pretty much spent lounging on the patio. I caught up on some reading, and even better, had some time to do a little writing. Of course I also managed to squeeze in a little photo shoot with Harlow.

Casual over-the-shoulder glance? If you insist.

And here's one more food shot from the weekend from a little stop in the Gold Coast called Da Lobsta. I didn't even realize I loved lobster rolls as much as I do until trying this place. If you ever come to Chicago and want to try an amazing lobster sandwich, from a super cute and very affordable place, I would recommend Da Lobsta to anyone.

On that note, I'm about to go have the best Monday ever. I just have this weird feeling like I can take on the world today. And by that I mean I'm going to put out fall decorations (my favorite season to decorate for, second only to Christmas) and clean out my closet and get rid of old clothes.  Like I said, "I'm taking on the world."
