After nearly 24 hours of traveling, we finally touched down in Rome.
And the airport is quite busy. So I've appointed myself as the "spotter watcher." It was no coincidence I watched Taken last weekend. I will NOT let my family get duped into sharing a taxi with a good looking Parisian only to be sold into sex slavery.
I've noticed at least three men I'm certain are kidnappers. However, it didn't exactly help my self esteem that they showed zero interest in me. Nobody looks good when they travel..
I'm going to be on my guard this entire trip. Especially when we get with Zach, I've heard the human trafficking business has a real need for 6'8, 250 lb white men. If he's okay with it, I'm thinking about suggesting he walk on one of those children safety leashes with myself or Tyeler. You can never be too safe when you're abroad.
After leaving the airport:
Obstacle #1: Starting the car we rented.
Obstacle #2: Figure out how to reverse the car we rented.
In the meantime, my mom and I will just continue to push the car backwards whenever necessary, as Chris sits in the drivers seat in neutral.
Obstacle #3: Figure out how to drive a stick shift in a toy car.
Obstacle #4: Understand what Chris means when he says "he hopes he doesn't drop the tranny on the interstate," because...
We're roughly 60 miles away from the villa we'll be staying in Tuscany. And so far, Rome is much more modern than I expected. Where are all the Gladiators, I wanted to be entertained. Or togas? Or women eating grapes lying on gold beds carried by servants. I guess that stuff only happens on My Super Sweet 16 these days. Too bad.
